Introduction
Henan Academy of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (HAMPS) had been derived from the former Henan Institute of Medical Sciences, an integrated research organization of medicine and pharmacy established in 1962, after a legality authorized by the government of Henan Province on January 26, 2007. HAMPS includes nine departments: Tumor Pathology, Hepatology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Cardiopulmonary Diseases, Nutrition & Food Science, Immunology & Microbiology, Endocrinology, and Ultrastructure Pathology. There are also an affiliated hospital, and an industrial base. It has five national and provincial research platforms such as National Base of Clinical Research on Drugs for Liver Diseases, Model Base of Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Esophageal Cancer of the Ministry of Health, Henan Key Laboratory for Pharmacology of liver diseases, Henan Distinct Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, and the Consulate Center of Tumor pathology of Henan Province. The principal disciplines are basic and clinical medical researches, preventive research on serious diseases, pharmacy research and new drug development, etc. HAMPS is administratively affiliated to Zhengzhou University and its finance is supported by the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Health of Henan Province. The staff is 130 and 99 are on duty, of which 36 are senior researchers,33 are with the middle rank technical job titles. A fraction of 91.8 % belongs to professionals including 3 national specialists, 3 provincial specialists, 2 Ph. D tutors, 7 Master tutors, 4 national and over 20 provincial science & technology appraisal specialists, and more than 10 directors or vice-directors of provincial professional associations. HAMPS has a construction area of more than 4000 square meters, more than 20 million yuan of fixed assets, more than 20 million yuan of floating capital, 50 pieces of large-scale apparatus. Public-shared research resources are as follows: Instrument Center, Molecular Biology Center, Endoscopic Research Center, SPF Experimental Animal Center, PCR and P 2 Laboratory authorized by the Ministry of Health, and Ultrastructure Research Center.
